Possible with Pay: 9 ways to celebrate Earth Day with your Amazon account

A collection of Amazon Pay employees’ personal favorite sustainable products and recommendations honoring Earth Day.

April 22 marks the 49th celebration of Earth Day, the global movement that reminds us even our smallest choices can have an outsized impact on the planet. Thankfully the number of manufacturers and retailers using sustainable, environmentally sound practices has ballooned in recent years – you only need to know where to find them. That’s why this month’s Possible with Pay article highlights some of our team’s favourite Amazon Pay merchants who are putting the Earth first.

A few of our favourites

Pointed toe flats from Rothy’s. You might be surprised to learn that every one of Rothy’s styling shoes used to be a water bottle headed for a landfill. After reforming the plastic into yarn, Rothy’s 3D prints fashion forward flats to create an incredibly comfortable, sustainable shoe. They’ve even managed to earn a nod of approval from Meghan Markle.

Leesa Mattress from Leesa. You can sleep easy on a Leesa mattress, knowing that your purchase is helping the environment. In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, Leesa plants one tree for every mattress they sell – their founders have committed to planting one million trees by 2025. Of course, it also helps that Leesa’s products consistently rank among the best mattresses.

Tree Toppers from AllBirds. Booming shoewear brand Allbirds is a certified B Corporation, meeting “the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.” These comfortable high-tops are made from sustainable sugarcane, the laces come from recycled plastic bottles, and they’re shipped in 90% recycled cardboard.

They work with farmers, producers, and artisans in six countries using low impact dyes while avoiding chemicals and plastic. These bag don’t just show your eco cred, they help Creative Handicrafts, empowering women in the slums of Mumbai.

NY Sneakers from Will’s Vegan Store. These carbon neutral sneakers are crafted from Italian vegan leather made from cereal crops grown in northern Europe and shipped through an eco-friendly, plastic-free, and carbon-neutral supply chain. They’re also impossibly cool.

Anything from thredUP. Every year, Americans send millions of tons of clothes to landfills when they could be recycled, repurposed, or resold. Clear your closet without filling a dumpster, then check thredUP, a highly curated online thrift store. And if you’re looking for something new(ish), check out thredUPs extensive collection of ethical fashion brands at bargain basement prices.
