Success Story: YouGarden

YouGarden gets 35% higher customer spend through Amazon Pay

YouGarden sales bloom with help from Amazon Pay

YouGarden is a UK-based online garden centre launched in 2012. The company sells a large range of plants, trees, bulbs and seeds to novice and green-fingered gardeners.

YouGarden’s ethos is ‘Gardening For Everyone’. It wants to make the joy of gardening accessible to all, particularly those over 50s who have a little more time and want to give it a try. In keeping with their theme of accessibility, YouGarden strives to offer innovative and convenient ways for gardeners to shop for their outdoor spaces.

While the company launched with more traditional online payment methods, YouGarden wanted to offer customers the reassurance of a familiar and trusted way to pay. In September 2015, YouGarden started to offer Amazon Pay to give its customers a more streamlined checkout experience by allowing them to use their Amazon account credentials. Amazon Pay is presented at the first stage of checkout on the YouGarden site as an alternative to creating another account or proceeding as a guest user, both of which require customers to manually enter their payment and delivery details.

35% higher spend through Amazon Pay

Since offering Amazon Pay, YouGarden has seen strong adoption, with 20% of transactions made through Amazon Pay. More significantly, customers who use Amazon Pay to complete their purchases on YouGarden spend on average 35% more than those using other payment methods.

Richard Llewellyn, senior marketing executive at YouGarden says: “We only started offering Amazon Pay to customers since September and already we’ve experienced a strong return on investment. The great thing is that because our business is seasonal, we’re expecting Amazon Pay to make an even bigger impact when we hit our peak volumes in the Spring.”

Being a relatively young company we saw the benefit in giving people reassurance during the payment process. As so many of our customers have Amazon accounts, we knew this was a brand they would trust and a convenient option for them.
