Payment Authorisation

A payment authorisation allows a merchant or service provider to charge your payment method multiple times based on a single prior authorisation. There are two types of payment authorisations: recurring and multiple-use.

  • A recurring payment authorisation is a payment that occurs at regular intervals for fixed amounts over a specified time period. Variable amounts are not permitted with a recurring payment. For instance, if you subscribed to a monthly service offered by a merchant, a payment authorisation allows the merchant to charge you for the service every month. You may cancel this authorisation at any time.
  • A multiple-use payment authorisation is a payment authorisation given to a recipient by a sender to charge the sender's Amazon Payments account multiple times for varying amounts over a fixed or variable period of time. For example, if you shop at a digital music merchant regularly, a multiple-use payment authorisation allows the merchant to automatically charge your account a minimum or maximum amount every 15 days. You may cancel this authorisation at any time.

You can view or cancel your payment authorisations from the Amazon Payments website.
